Deep Root Feeding is the fertilization of trees and shrubs, preferably in the fall,
after seasonal growth has stopped.
In the Flathead, anytime after September 15th is appropriate.
This is when new root development begins. Healthy roots make healthy trees and shrubs.
The next best time to root feed is early spring, before full leaf development.
Deep root feeding increases the growth and survival of young trees & shrubs,
improves color and density, increases winter hardiness and longevity,
helps plants resist and overcome disease and insect damage,
increases fruit production, and helps storm damaged plants regenerate.
